Red Leaf Hill – Music, Film & Photography in the Arctic Wilderness
Red Leaf Hill is the creative project of Carmijn, a musician, songwriter, filmmaker, and photographer living on the unspoiled island of Andøya in Vesterålen, Northern Norway. Originally from the Netherlands, she moved in 2022 with her family to a remote farmhouse surrounded by mountains, fjords, and the endless Arctic ocean.
Here, life is raw, slow, and deeply inspiring. Carmijn and her family are building a self-sufficient lifestyle, renovating their old farmhouse by hand and living closely with nature — cutting firewood, cooking over a woodstove, and raising their children in harmony with the wilderness.
This connection to the environment fuels her creativity. Her music — ambient folk and cinematic pop — is intertwined with her films, capturing the stillness of northern landscapes, the magic of the auroras, and the quiet, everyday moments of life on the island. Her two EPs, Sunrise and Northern Wind (2025), are available worldwide.
Through her YouTube channel, Carmijn shares this way of life, combining music, film, and photography to invite viewers into her world — a reflection of slow living, resilience, and the wild beauty of the Arctic.
